A scientific eye: geophysical imagery of the Earth and planets June 14, 2011

A public lecture by Dr Sue Bowler, Editor of the Royal Astronomical Society's magazine.
This talk will outline some of the ways in which geophysical images have been used in research and exploration, from the beginnings of plate tectonic theory to the discovery of active volcanoes in the solar system, not forgetting their ability to show what is happening in the depths of the Earth.

A 'Friend of the RAS' can reserve a seat by contacting the RAS, preferably by email to [email protected], between 10:00 on the Monday of the week before until 17:00 of the day before the lecture. (Please note that you must collect your ticket on the day of the lecture by 12:30)
Non-'Friends' may collect tickets for any remaining seats on a ‘first come first served’ basis only on the day of the lecture after 12:30.
