ChopShticks: Chinese Food & Comedy December 24, 2009

This year, ChopShticks will feature Carol Leifer, an accomplished stand-up comedian, Emmy-nominated writer/producer and author of When You Lie About Your Age, the Terrorists Win.

As a stand-up comic, Leifer's "inner monologue" observational style touches on her Jewish ancestry and upbringing, same-sex marriage, relationships and parenting. In her book, Leifer reveals all--her age, her outlook, her life philosophy--no holds barred. She succeeds in broaching many of life's difficult situations with humor and compassion. Leifer has written for Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show, Saturday Night Live, and The Academy Awards. She has starred in her own comedy specials on HBO, Showtime and Comedy Central and has appeared on The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

"I recently became vegan," said Leifer, "because I felt that as a Jewish lesbian, I wasn't part of a small enough minority."
