Dallas native Greg Pak is the guest of honor and speaker at the Friends of the Dallas Public Library's fundraising dinner on Friday, November 4, 2011. Pak is a comic book writer and filmmaker best known for writing Marvel's "Incredible Hulk" series over a six-year period including the epic "Planet Hulk" and "World War Hulk" comic book storylines, and for directing the award-winning feature film "Robot Stories" that played in 75 film festivals, won 35 awards, and was screened theatrically across the U.S.
The Friends’ fall dinner is one of its primary means of raising support for the Dallas Public Library system and enables it to provide much needed funds for Library materials (books, DVDs, CDs, periodicals, etc.), for technology such as the new self-check machines in the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library and several branches, and for family programs, lectures, workshops and other essential services for Dallas residents.
The dinner, to be held at The Ritz Carlton (2121 McKinney Ave.), will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by a seated dinner and program. Greg Pak will be interviewed by culture critic and long-time friend Robert Wilonsky, Dallas Observer “Unfair Park” Editor. The evening will close with a comic book and graphic novel signing by the author amidst a dessert bar and music.
