Families from all over the Bay Area flock to Crowden Music Center's annual free musical carnival, Community Music Day, for a whole day of musical fun and exploration.

Featuring:

Very First Concerts: "Meet the Orchestra"
The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra performs short and engaging programs based on the musical theme "Meet the Orchestra." Join us in a visit to the zoo: the instrument zoo! Meet the nimble violin, the grumpy bassoon, the growling trombone, and all the other musical instruments that make up the modern day orchestra. Tumbling mats for wriggling toddlers, short selections, and hands-on musical activities make this the perfect way to introduce the youngest children to the joys of live classical music. Repeat performances at 10:40 am, 11:20 am, 12:o0 pm.

Instrument Petting Zoo
Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.
Musical performances by kids, for kids (including Crowden School students and San Francisco Girls Chorus!)

Music and Movement Classes
Family members of all ages can sing, dance, move, and drum together in our short class demonstrations.

Instrument Making
Construct your own instruments to make music at home with!

"Chill" room
Relax from the crowds in the "chill" room, where we'll show music-related movies.

Face painting, BBQ & baked good sales, prizes, & more!
