Bleecker Street between Bank and Christopher Streets
New York, New York 10014

This event recognizes the strong relationship between the fine arts and the applied arts. Bleecker Street is closed to traffic between Bank and Christopher Streets creating a virtual gallery of 100 professional artists selling only their own unique creations. Independent design is featured, promoting the importance of goods that pay heed to tradition and craftsmanship.

Craft demonstrations will include painting on pre-cast bisqueware, Oriental rug weaving, intricate pin-weaving for jewelry applications, Henna body decoration, silkscreening, painting on silk, plus crocheting with unusual recycled materials.

Rube-Goldberg-like Fantasy Clocks are a prime example of repurposing included in a wide range of unusual creations by artists imbued with the Green Ethic.

Artists are the hardest hit whenever the economy takes a downward turn; events such as this give them a much needed opportunity to directly reach out to the public.

Two locations will also feature live music in this annual fundraiser for the Greenwich Village Youth Council.

You'll find moderately-priced, functional and collectible art plus have the opportunity to discuss the creation process with the artists in a reasonably priced venue where savings are passed on to the consumer.
