When we first came back to L.A., we saw Doughty play at McCabe's Guitar Shop, which is even smaller than Largo. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
i saw him play in dc at a fairly small venue as well...a room full of devoted soul coughing fans makes his solo show all the more intimate, in my opinion.
