Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir Sings through the Cold in a Winter Concert

Start 2013 right with some beautiful singing: the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir presents performances from a variety of groups in a Winter Concert on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 3pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Oakland. Concert Choir sings a set of works from the British Isles, and Ensemble will wow with Meredith Monk's Things and tug your heart-strings with the PEBCC commission The Land of Dreams by Jonathan Goodwin. Younger groups present a semester of hard work and demonstrate the continuum of the choir, and everyone comes together with Oscar Peterson's classic anthem Hymn to Freedom.

The Choir, under the leadership of Artistic Director Robert Geary these past thirty years, has earned international recognition through competitions, concerts, and tours. It has been honored more than any other children's choir for Adventurous Programming by ASCAP and has won many grand prizes, first prizes, gold medals and special awards in Canada, the United States, Germany, Poland, Austria, Italy, and Hong Kong. Professional, poised and precise musicianship has led to regular collaborations with major Bay area arts organizations, including the San Francisco Opera, West Edge Opera, Volti, the San Francisco Choral Society, Cal Performances, and the Oakland East Bay Symphony.
