Come join us for an evening of bewitching stories as we present "The Comfort of Strangers."

Storytellers include super sex guru Susie Bright; San Francisco cab driver Lee Vilensky; poet and waiter Horehound Stillpoint, Alice Radio movie critic Hooman, and former rock road manager Stuart Henry.

Our musical guest will be cult icon Biff Rose. Biff will play a special set after the stories.

This Month's Storytellers

Susie Bright is the editor of The Best American Erotica series and host of the weekly audio show In Bed with Susie Bright on Audible.com. She has been a columnist for Playboy and Salon, and has been profiled in USA TODAY, Los Angeles Times, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, and Vanity Fair, among other publications. An international lecturer on sexuality and feminism, she won the 2004 Writer of the Year Award at the Erotic Awards in London. She writes stories about sex, culture, and politics every day on her blog.

Stuart Henry was born in Airthrey Castle at Bridge of Allan, Scotland on December 24, 1947. Trained in catering and hotel crafts before discovering life in a van with local bands in Scotland, he moved to London in 1965 and worked for the Saudi Royal family and various odd jobs . He bounced in and out of the music scene as a roadie through the '60s and went pro in the early '70s with Suzi Quattro, and a long list of bands in the UK. Had a couple of years off to open a restaurant above the Hope and Anchor, a famous music pub in Islington and when that ended, his first tour back was Talking Heads and Ramones doing 7 countries in Europe in 7 weeks which led to his moving to NYC in '77. Stuart came to San Francisco in '91 and is married with a 10 year old daughter. He still mixes sound and also has a family business called Wee Scotty on Union St. where they design and make clothes for kids, as well as teaching kids how to make their own fashion.

For the past six years, Hooman has been the movie critic for the Sarah and No Name morning show on [email protected] - the #1 rated radio morning show in the Bay Area. For the past 4 years, Hooman also reviewed films for the CBS Morning News in San Francisco. Through his work as a movie critic, Hooman has interviewed many personalities for live broadcasts on both television and radio, such as Jack Black, Harrison Ford, John Travolta, Sting, Charlize Theron, Robin Williams, Cindy Crawford, Forrest Whitaker, Woody Allen, Ethan Hawke, Jackie Chan, and Brittany Murphy, to name a few. He regularly attends the Sundance Film Festival. Hooman recently started Hooman Radio which airs Saturday Nights on [email protected], an eclectic mix of Rock, hip hop and local underground music. When Hooman is not reviewing film, he regularly critiques the opera, ballet, and theatre for the Weekend Morning News on UPN.

Horehound Stillpoint is a San Francisco waiter/writer who's been around forever. He's a story in Justin Chin's Burden of Ashes and he was the muse supposedly for Ian Philips' Satyriasis. His work has been widely published in anthologies such as Poetry Slam, Poetry Nation, Out in the Castro, Pills, Thrills, Chills, and Heartache, and I Do, I Don't. Seven recent poems are collected in Bullets & Butterflies. He was also part of the award-winning
Daytrippers theatre group, and had plays in the S. F. Fringe Festival in 2000 and 2001. Reincarnation Woes, with illustrations by KRK Ryden, is a mini-book out on Kapow! Press, but it is probably not in a bookstore anywhere near you.

Lee Vilensky is a San Francisco cab driver and musician. You may have heard of some of his bands if you were alive in the '80s and '90s. He played with the Billy Nayer Show and Pearl Harbour and The Explosions, as well as a bunch of other people. He currently performs with his own instrumental trio and has written a bunch of complainy prose that got published here and there. Exquisite Corpse is probably the best of the lot.
