Science Shaping Our World (SHOW) is an ongoing seminar and networking series that highlights cutting edge translational life science research and development. Our mission is to bring together a multidisciplinary audience spanning academia and industry where they can gain exposure and insight into the life science advancements changing our world. Further, we seek to promote active inter and cross-disciplinary dialogue and networking opportunities toward fostering the creation of relationships bridging bench to bedside.

July's SHOW focuses on recent advancements made in Hydrogel engineering and application. Hydrogel biomaterials have been increasingly used in various tissue engineering applications since they provide cells with a hydrated 3D microenvironment that mimics the native extracellular matrix. The presentation will focus on cell-microenvironment interactions which can be controlled by using patterned hydrogels to direct the differentiation of stem cells as well as novel approaches to induce self assembly and generation of 3D tissue structures with controlled microarchitecture and cell-cell interactions.

Leading the evenings networking phase will be our very special guest Sarah Cardozo-Duncan recently recognized by Boston Magazine as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Boston and CEO at the Career Strategist consulting firm. Sarah draws upon over twenty years of career development expertise and experience to help multidisciplinary professionals cultivate personal and professional value as well as tangible skills.

Please join us for an excellent evening of science, technology, and networking. Event registration is free and required with event sign-in beginning at 6:00 PM at Harvard Institutes of Medicine. Additionally, you are encouraged to bring your business cards, and enthusiasm, for an evening of networking following the presentation led by one of Boston's preeminent career coaches. Light food and refreshments will be provided.
