An evening with Sebastião Salgado is an incredibly rare oppurtunity to see and hear one of the world's most important social documentary photographers. He has created the most moving images about challenges facing people around the globe.

The night will begin with a screening of Salgado's new work, "Genesis". This epic work is a loving and passionate homage to the untouched environment of our planet Earth; a call to each of us to honor and connect with it. Following this; Ken Light' professor at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism, will join Sebastião Salgado on stage in a conversation about Sebastião's life and work.

Sebastião Salgado started his professional life as an economist and quickly found photography. His projects visually express the economic and social justice challenges in less developed nations and has been published and shown worldwide. In 1988, he and his wife founded InstitutoTerra, an organization aimed at restoring the Atlantic rainforest in Brazil where he grew up.
