"In these pictures, the bodies contain and activate tales. Their sculptural formations are akin to dance. I am interested in the charge of their formations, the feeling that the figure(s) create(s) in the pastoral. This fluidity of history, of relationships, registers across generations."

Born in Montreal, raised in Florida, Sune Woods currently lives in San Francisco. She is a multidisciplinary artist whose work includes photography, collage, and video, and uses the body as a site to think about histories passed on, forgotten, or imagined. Woods has exhibited her work nationally at the Brooklyn Museum of Art; the Lowe Art Museum in Florida; the African-American Museum in Hempstead, New York; School of the International Center of Photography; The Time-Life Building, New York; and the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery.
